How to use the knife sharpening stone:

Step 1.
Soak the whetstone in water for 5 minutes to absorb the water before use.

Step 2.
Place the sharpening stone on the platform and the knife needs to be at a 10~30 degree angle.

Step 3.
First, sharpen the blade by rough grinding at 800, 1000, 1500, or 2000 grit for 5-10 minutes.

Step 4.
Then use a 3000, 4000, 6000, or 8000 gritstone to strengthening the blade, grinding for 5-20 minutes.

240 400 and 600 grits whetstones are used for Reforming the edged of the blade (removes rust, and dull edges) removing nicks in the blade (minor damage). Not to be used on a sharp edge.

800, 1000, 1500, and 2000 grits whetstones are used to polish and create a fine, sharp edge on your blade.
They are ideal for creating a final polished finish and for maintaining the sharpness of your blade.

3000 4000 6000 and8000 grits whetstones are used best used for final polishing of your blade. They are also great for maintaining the sharpness of your blade in between uses.

Good quality stone keeps my knives razor sharp
Easy to get the perfect cutting edge with this wicked whetstone
Delivery longer than expected, when chased customer service responded satisfactory within 24-hours. Good product that has sharpened budget and high end knives equally. I recommend watching tutorials to get the best out of the product.
I had previously been using a draw-through sharpener to sharpen my lowly santoku knife, but this must have worn out so consequently the knife became blunt and no amount of sharpening would make any difference. Unsure whether it was the knife or the sharpener to blame, I decided to purchase a 1000/6000 whetstone.
I did wait 3 weeks for delivery but once the whetstone arrived (which was handily supplied with a plastic guide to keep the blade at the correct angle) I watched the recommended “how to” video and set to sharpening my knife.
It took a while to get the knack (the angle jig is invaluable) during which time I was convinced that it was the knife and not my old draw-through sharpener that had bitten the dust as despite me sharpening frantically away for about ten minutes the knife didn’t appear to be very sharp.
Oh well, time for a new knife I thought, closely followed by thinking I’d thrown my money away on a whetstone. I decided to try the knife before I consigned it to the bin.
I got the shock of my life! I thought that the draw-through sharpener used to hone the knife to a razor sharp finish, but now the scales have fallen from my eyes. My knife has been honed to the sharpest thing known to man - it cuts through anything literally without any effort, so much so that I fear for the integrity of my chopping board.
I really cannot adequately describe how sharp my knife now is - I’m sure it would put a scalpel to shame. Needless to say I’m now an absolute convert to a whetstone. If you want your santoku knife to be ridiculously, insanely, finger-endangeringly sharp then I can wholeheartedly recommend purchasing a whetstone - you’ll never look back!
